On the morning of June 28, 2025, the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKUSZ) held its 2025 Commencement Ceremony at the B2 Lecture Hall of the HSBC Business School. Nearly 500 family members were invited to attend the ceremony alongside university leaders, faculty, alumni, and guests.

Zhang Jin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of Peking University, Executive Vice President of Peking University, and Dean of the Shenzhen Graduate School; Tan Wenchang, Party Secretary of the Shenzhen Graduate School; Vice Deans Wang Tianbing, Niu Hongwei, and Tian Yonghong; along with other school leaders, alumni representatives, and faculty members from various colleges of the Shenzhen Graduate School attended the ceremony. The commencement was hosted by Vice Dean Wang Tianbing.

The School of Urban Planning and Design was represented by Dean Zhao Pengjun, Vice Deans Zhu Zaichun, Tang Junqing, and Zhang Haoran, Professors Zeng Hui, Wu Jiansheng, Yang Jiawen, Assistant Dean Gong Zhaoya, and 38 graduates from the Class of 2025.

The ceremony opened with musical performances by student singers and children from the PKU Affiliated School in Shenzhen, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.

Following the national anthem, outstanding graduate representatives from various disciplines delivered speeches reflecting on their time at PKUSZ and expressing their commitment to future challenges.

Professor Yang Jiawen and graduate Lu Jinfeng from the School of Urban Planning and Design participated in the ceremonial flower presentation.

Executive Vice President Zhang Jin delivered the keynote speech titled “Dialoguing with the World, Advancing through Cooperation.” He offered three messages to graduates: uphold shared values in collaboration, embrace openness and inclusiveness, and promote innovation through complementary strengths.

Party Secretary Tan Wenchang then announced the recipients of the Outstanding Graduate Awards. Zhang Jin turned the tassels and presented certificates to the honorees. From the School of Urban Planning and Design, 8 students received the title of “Outstanding Graduate of Peking University,” including 3 who were also recognized as “Outstanding Graduates of Beijing Municipality.” Outstanding graduate representatives Li Zhaoxiang, Li Kaixin, Yang Yixiao, Hu Banshao, Liu Songyue, and Lu Jinfeng attended the ceremony and received their honors on stage.

A total of 1,170 students graduated from PKUSZ this year, including 1,066 master’s students and 104 doctoral students, among whom were 86 international and Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan students. The School of Urban Planning and Design awarded 46 degrees: 44 master’s and 2 doctoral.

Dean Zhao Pengjun read the names of the master’s graduates. Zhang Jin and Tan Wenchang turned the tassels and presented certificates to representatives of the master’s and doctoral graduates.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of Yanyuan Sentiment and a group photo session in the main lobby of HSBC Business School, marking a successful and heartfelt close to the 2025 Commencement Ceremony.
